Common Questions:

  • A valid (non-expired) photo ID such as a State ID, Passport, or Driver’s License.

  • A minor coming to get pierced needs to bring their parent/legal guardian, both with a photo ID. If the addresses do not match, the minor's birth certificate must be present. A legal guardian will need to bring proof of legal guardianship.

  • The state of Kentucky requires a notarized letter for a minor getting pierced. Fortunately, we typically have an on-site notary!

In our online booking system, appointments for minors are made for when a notary is available on site at the shop. If you are walking in, call (859-287-2855) to see if we have a notary available.

  • Well, you are creating a new wound for your body to heal. Most people leave saying it’s not as bad as they thought it would be for most piercings. To say it wouldn’t hurt at all wouldn’t be honest, but really, most piercings are not too bad. If you are quite concerned about the pain of the experience, give us a call or stop in. We would be more than happy to talk to you about our experiences.

  • We follow the guidelines set forth by the APP, Association of Professional Piercers. Our preferred material for jewelry is implant grade titanium (ASTM-F136), or 14k and 18k implant grade gold in a threadless or internally threaded style.

  • Nope! Our professional piercers will use a one time use hypodermic needle for your new piercing. These hypodermic needles remove a portion of the tissue to allow the jewelry. Many piercing guns use a solid needle (similar to a sewing needle) and rely on blunt force trauma to get the jewelry in.

Piercing guns also cannot be appropriately cleaned or sterilized prior to use. Our tools and jewelry are clean and sterile before use on any client.

  • Threadless jewelry has no threading - so no twisting or the jewelry to put it on or off. Instead, this style of jewelry relies on the amount of bend in a pin when inserted into a straight channel. The more pen in the pin, the tighter the fit, and vice versa.

  • Our preferred material for jewelry is implant grade titanium (ASTM-F136), or 14k and 18k implant grade gold in a threadless or internally threaded style. If you have jewelry of this quality, and can provide a mill certificate to verify the percent composition of metals present in the jewelry.

  • In general, we recommend healing a new piercing with a stud, then switching to a hoop once the piercing is fully healed.

In some piercings, due to the anatomy of the piercing, a hoop is worn. Examples include the septum piercing and daith piercings.

Jewelry

Internally threaded or threadless style jewelry is preferred jewelry for fresh and healing piercings. They are comfortable, and the safest options to pierce with.
